Among the other famous sights of Guangzhou, the Galia memorial, which is a construction of unusual architecture combining European and Eastern styles, is especially original. The building was designed and built in 1948 and for a long time served as a small grocery store.
However, a year later, the entrepreneur who owned the building decided to expand the territory of his possessions and built four more floors. As a result, a well-known jewelry store, the first professional photo studio in Guangzhou, appeared in the Galiya house, and a hospital for local residents was located on the ground floor.
For several decades, the building was repeatedly resold, and its premises were rented for various needs. At the end of the 20th century, the Guangzhou authorities decided to reconstruct the building and make it an architectural monument of the city that fits perfectly into the general panorama.
Currently, the Galia Memorial is open daily for mass visits absolutely free. At the same time, tourists have a unique opportunity to see with their own eyes the original art elements made by ancient masters using a variety of fabric coatings, straw rods and precious woods.
Window openings made in the form of stained-glass windows, on which colorful images in red and blue colors, symbolizing the wisdom and strength of spirit of the Chinese nation, deserve special attention. A walk through the Galia memorial will bring true pleasure to lovers of art and history of the Middle Kingdom.

|Underground||to Memorial Hall|
Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was created in memory of the fiery revolutionary and the first president of China, but his visit will please not only fans of the “commandant” and adherents of communist ideology, but all those who want to better know and understand Chinese culture, as well as people with a developed aesthetic sense. The memorial building is unique because it combines Chinese traditions and innovative solutions, and is also very beautiful and majestic. The memorial, in addition to information about the "father of the nation", contains many excellent examples of art. The square in front of the memorial and the surrounding garden also deserve close attention.
Sun Yat-sen is one of the most respected public figures in China, a politician, a doctor, a publicist, a thinker, a person of complex fate, a patriot, the founder of the Kuomintang party, a subverter of the Manchu dynasty, commandant, the first president of the Republic of China, the father of the nation, “Confucius in real politics” and much more - was born in a small town in Guangdong. Guangzhou is the capital of this province, so the “Father of the Nation” Memorial Hall is located here, not where he died or where his body rests.
After the death of Sun Yatsen, his fellow countrymen from Guangzhou, as well as emigrants who knew and respected politics, decided to pay tribute to his memory and raised money to build a memorial hall, which was built over two years and was opened in 1931.
The location of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is Yuexiu Park, the slope of Yuexiu Mountain, which gave its name to the park. Earlier in this place was the official residence of the first president of the Republic of China. The Memorial Hall - a project of the famous local architect Lu Yanzhi - is an octagonal building with an area of more than six and a half thousand square meters, a successful attempt to combine the traditional form and modern technologies at the time of construction, which made it possible to do without columns and piles supporting the ceiling. The room can comfortably accommodate several thousand people. During the Second World War, the memorial was badly damaged, but it was completely restored, modernized in terms of ventilation, acoustics, electrical wiring and other technical aspects, therefore, it is currently fully functional and very beautiful.
The memorial hall of the first president of the Republic of China is often used for plenary meetings of major scientific and political conferences. The rest of the time it is a place of memory of Sun Yat-sen. His photographs and letters are exhibited here. Visitors can also admire the walls of the hall, decorated with wood carvings and paintings.
Near the memorial there is a ceiba, which is considered almost the same age as the city, and two very large and incredibly beautiful white magnolias, and in the square in front of it is a monument to Sun Yatsen, against which both local schoolchildren and foreign tourists like to take pictures.
